A 27-year-old woman who was beaten to death and later burnt over alleged burning of Holy Quran was mentally ill, her parents said.
Farkhunda was severely beaten to death by angry civilians on Thursday near Shah-e-Do Shamshera Mosque of Kabul when people accused her of burning Islam's sacred book.
Her parents, however, said that Farkhunda was mentally ill for 16 years and she had not committed the act intentionally.
The Kabul Police confirmed her death and urged on the arrest of the perpetrators.
