Taliban Take Control of Badghis's Jawand District: Officials

Taliban insurgents have taken control of Jawand district in western Badghis after an attack on Saturday night, local officials said.

Bahawuddin Qadis, Head of the Provincial Council of Badghis said that the Taliban insurgents attacked the district and took control at about 02:00am local time.

He said insurgents have also stolen weapons.

However, he did not provided more details about the attack.

Jawand is one of the largest districts in the province and has only recently become insecure - with insurgents attacking military posts.
