Health officials said at least six police were killed on Wednesday evening when a suicide bomber targeted a police check post in Lashkargah city of southern Helmand province, health officials said.
There were however conflicting reports on casualties with health officials from the Helmand Emergency Hospital claiming six policemen died. But a provincial spokesman said no deaths were recorded but four policemen were injured.
The attack occurred on Wednesday when a suicide bomber detonated his explosives at a police check post in Bolan in Lashkargah.
No civilian casualties were reported.
No insurgent group including the Taliban have claimed responsibility for the attack.
