The governor general, Sir , has told Australian troops in Afghanistan that their task is challenging but not thankless.
During a trip to Kabul, the former army chief thanked defence force personnel for their service and said they were working to build a better future for and its people.
Sir Peter also met with the president of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Dr Ashraf Ghani, the chief executive of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Dr Abdullah Abdullah, and Australian embassy staff at Resolute Support Headquarters.
Sir Peter was recently accused by a Labor senator, Stephen Conroy, of by participating in the recall of both houses of parliament. Conroy was , for the comments, who said Conroy “should confine his remarks to the government”.
The governor general was also criticised on social media for a , whose hand he did not shake after the joint sitting of parliament.
