The Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) has launched a joint operation in central Maidan Wardak province to clear the Kabul-Ghazni highway from the insurgents.
The operation commander Aminullah Mubin told TOLOnews that the operation was launched in Sayed Abad district where 13 civilians where shot dead by the insurgents a few days ago.
Along with arresting 20 Taliban insurgents, Mubin added that several villages have also been cleared of the militants.
He noted that the civilians were not harmed in the operation.
The Taliban, however, have not commented so far in this regard.
