October 11, 2015 is the fourth annual International Day of the Girl Child. The Afghan Women’s Writing Project is supporting this United Nations-sponsored celebration with poems and stories written for this day by our writers.
The UN has declared October 11th as the International Day of the Girl Child to raise awareness about gender inequality around the world. Activist groups come together on this day to discuss and take action to advance the rights for girls to be seen as equals.
The theme of the celebration this year is “The Power of the Adolescent Girl: Vision for 2030.”
