The National Directorate of Security (NDS) has announced that the deadly suicide bombing in eastern Khost province was carried out by the Haqqani Network.
NDS—the Afghan intelligence agency—said in a statement on Sunday that Shah Ghulam, who blew himself up in the middle of protests in Khost, was directed by the network's commander Sirajuddin Haqqani to carry out the bombing.
At least 20 people were killed and more than 60 others wounded when the suicide bomber detonated his explosives during the protest against the acting governor of Khost, accusing him of corruption and land usurpation.
MP Hamayoun Hamayoun, head of Parliamentary defense committee, was also injured in the attack.
