At least 13 insurgents were killed and eights others injured during a series of coordinated operations over the past 24 hours by the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF), the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said in a statement on Saturday.
Four other insurgents were arrested during the operations conducted in Takhar, Kunduz, Sar-e-Pul, Maidan Wardak, Farah and Helmand provinces, the statement said.
"During the same 24 hour period, the Afghan National Police discovered and defused 10 different types of IEDs placed in Kunar and Paktika provinces," it noted.
The MoI, however, did not comment whether the security forces were harmed in the operations.
