A CONVERSATION WITH KHALED HOSSEINI

Happy 2016. I wish you and your family a healthy, prosperous and joyful new year.

Thank you for reading my blog in 2015. Your comments and emails are my inspiration to continue writing. Originally the blog was intended to share Afghan food recipes—but as I learn of your interest in Afghan culture—I'm compelled to include information about events, films and literary works relating to Afghanistan.

In the spirit of cultural exchange, I want to kick off the new year by inviting those of you living in the Bay Area, to join me at an event where I'll interview author Khaled Hosseini about the adaptation of his beloved second book, A THOUSAND SPLENDID SUNS, for stage. This is a sneak peak into the creative process of a master storyteller.

The event is part of The New Strands Festival  organized by A.C.T.. San Francisco.

“Featuring new theatrical pieces, works in progress, readings, and experimental work by playwrights, dance companies, musicians, animation artists, and more, the New Strands Festival is devoted to supporting local, national, and international artists in the creation and completion of original theater. ”

American Conservatory Theater has commissioned playwright Ursual Rani Sarma to adapt Khaled Hosseini's book for stage. The play will be directed by Carey Perloff.
