9 Afghan Border Police Disappear After Taliban Attack

At least nine Afghan Border Police disappeared on Wednesday night when a group of Taliban insurgents attacked a border post in Bala Murghab district of Badghis province, local officials said Thursday.

Mirwais Mirzakwal, spokesman for the provincial acting- governor's office, said that the incident occurred late Wednesday night when a group of Taliban insurgents attacked and seized the post in Mori Chaq village of Bala Murghab district.

According to Mirzakwal, nine border police soldiers are missing. It is not however clear whether the soldiers were killed or kidnapped by Taliban.

Three soldiers were injured in the attack, Mirzakwal said.

Afghan Special Forces have arrived in the area.
