At least 26 police trainees were killed and 27 others wounded as a result of a suicide blast at the Kabul Police Academy in Kabul, a security official said.
The source told TOLOnews on condition of anonymity that a suicide bomber wearing a police uniform detonated his explosives at the entrance of the compound in PD5, near Bagh-e-Bala, in Kabul on Friday night.
The suicide bomber got to the main entrance of the academy and was standing with a group of police trainees when he detonated his explosives, the source added.
This comes only hours after a powerful truck bomb rocked Kabul's Shah Shaheed district in the early hours of Friday morning – killing 15 people and injuring over 400.
Extensive damage was caused to buildings in the vicinity – many of them collapsing all together.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for either of the attacks.
