At least 13 insurgents were killed in a joint security forces operation in southern Helmand province, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said in a statement on Wednesday.
The operation was launched by the 215th Maiwand Corps in Musa Qala district of the province to clear the anti-government insurgents, the statement said.
There were no civilian or military casualties during the operation, read the statement.
"The forces also discovered two mines during the operation," it added.
However, the Taliban has not yet commented on the operation as yet.
With the increasing of insurgent activities in the country, the security forces have launched military operations in a number of parts of the country to clear the militants.
